Driven by a love of raw materials, the Dulwich Pool House is a minimalist structure composed entirely of off-form concrete. Built in partnership with Custom Built Projects, the pavilion is designed to function as a versatile, year-round extension of the main home. The self-contained volume includes a integrated outdoor kitchen, a powder room, and an open living space tailored for poolside entertainment during hot summer days, reconfiguring effortlessly into an enclosed sanctuary during winter when the inground pool cover appears. Concrete serves as a true statement in this architectural design, acting as a clean canvas for the play of natural light that washes across the raw external and internal walls. Geometric form-making guides the structure, where subtle curves are introduced to the concrete pool coping.
These soft elements create a striking architectural juxtaposition against the strong linear planes of the heavy, in-situ concrete roof, successfully balancing raw material weight with refined structural elegance.
